Weekly Sports Tips - Stuart James The Week Ahead AFL 2007 Geelong / Collingwood Friday Sep 21 Kick Off 7.50 PM AEST. Geelong are odds on title favourites and if they play like they have all year, should win. The media thinks this game is a forgone conclusion, which does raise a certain degree of caution. The money has been flowing in for Geelong however, and the weight of money has been a good indicator in the AFL this season. Geelong have amassed an incredible record this year, winning the last 17 from 18 games. In short, there would have to be something prettty amazing for Geelong to loose. Collingwood are coming off a huge overtime win against West Coast last week and went down to Geelong by 16 points back in round 15, a commendable effort. Astrowise, there is something pretty major at the start of this game. Mars is in exact opposition to Pluto, with Mars ruling the home team Geelong - major negative for them. Strong Pluto aspects have been involved in major upheavals previously, so this game is not a forgone conclusion. Geelong (co) Thompson potentially has his Moon in this area, but this is a long shot as we don't have his birth time. Mars is quincunx his Sun, which shows changes will need to be made if they are to win. Venus rules away Collingwood and is applying to an opposition to Neptune - ordinary for them. Venus / Neptune potentially is the deciding factor at match end, which could just hamper Collingwood. Would like to see something really positive for Collingwood to call them. Coach Malthouse does have his progressed Sun descending at match end which is good, but really need more. The jury is out on this game.
NRL 2007 Manly / North Queensland Saturday Sep 22 Kick Off 7.45 PM AEST. North Qld are on a roll winning 7 straight but have been ordinary when playing in Sydney this year. They do boast a 5-1 record against Manly in recent history. Manly have been ultra consistent all year and will pose a much more formidable defence for the high flying Cowboys. The money has been flowing for Nth Qld, which has been a poor indicator in the NRL this year. Astrowise a Moon semi square to Uranus is the only major aspect in play during this game. This bodes poorly for Nth Qld, afflicting the Saturn of (c) Thurston and progressed Mars of (co) Murray. Manly (co) Hasler has a Mars trine Sun, which should "trigger" the Pluto sextile Sun aspect he is enjoying. The one concern I have about Manly is the progressed Saturn / MC combo (co) Hasler has, but not enough to loose IMO. Manly (c) Orford has the Moon triggering his natal Sun sextile Jupiter pattern, which is also beneficial. Overall, Manly to win. Melbourne / Parramatta Sunday Sep 23, kick Off 4.00 PM AEST. Another forgone conclusion as far as the media and punters are concerned, with Melbourne to account for Parramatta. Stats point to Melbourne with a 7-1 record against the Eels in recent history, as well as being undefeated in Melbourne this year. This game is of course being played at Telstra dome instead of the usual Olympic Park though. Astro wise, Melbourne appear to have that element of luck required to get over the line, thanks to Jupiter / MC combos in the coaches and players charts. The Moon is afflcited in the first half, forming a weak sesqui aspect to Mars, and with Mars being quincunx the progressed Sun of (co) Bellamy - some problems for Melbourne here. Parramatta coach Hagan has a nasty dose of Saturn today, with Saturn opposing his natal Saturn and the transiting Sun in quincunx his progressed Saturn - Yuk. Always difficult to tell whether this means a heartbreaking loss or complete blowout, which is of course important for handicapping. My lean is a close loss. Overall, Melbourne win.
